Custom art illustrations in exchange for some cash...

By gregmecfs - on Nov 16, 2011

Hi,

I'm a disabled male in his 30's... I am stuck in a situation that I need to get out of but I can't come up with a deposit to get a place of my own. Just posting this hoping you might be able to help me. I'm good at illustration and I can create something custom for you in exchange for some financial help. Here is a link :

http://www.flickr.com/photos/68642514@N06/

I'm hoping to come up with atleast $1000 which will be put towards the deposit and get some furniture to get me started. Buy something you see on the flickr page that you like, or I can create something custom.. Not sure if this will work but its worth a shot.

Thank you for your time..

Greg

Homeless Artist

I'm trying to sell art to raise food funds! I'm homeless. I've lived in my RV/Studio for 10 years.
I have a Pop Art Formula of cat faced celebrities, done in marker on magazine, finished in found frames.

I've been shown in some very prestigious places despite my living situation. I THANK YOU for your support.

***EDIT 2011***

No one ever showed much intrest in helping me. I don't do those pop art cat faces anymore. I just take thousands of photographs and make youtube videos now..

My RV recently had a fire and had to be towed away.. so now I bike around and live in a storage shed. It's getting cold again as usual..

in response to Stephanie59...   yes. I am. It's true. Death is not the end of me. Divine intervention, but I could use a little money too. It's so sad suffering in the cold every year. I'm just looking for a normal job now. A movie theater guy or anything! Poverty has become to painful, no mater my amount of spirit.

I have 2 suggestions, one, either find a bible or go to a library and read one from there. Find a church to go to, God takes care of all his people. Are you one?
Trust in the Lord and he shall direct your path.

me2silly4u2no- You are not weird or bad or a baby. Crying is actually good for your emotional well-being. It's cathartic. That means it will help you to let people know you are in pain. I have been out of work for 10 months. Do not give up. McDonalds and Burger King and all these places are probably full up. I see al ot of older people working there to pay for their homes so they won't go to foreclosure. Thank our government for the mess we're in. They have not money, and say "USAs broke." Now, just take a deep breath. Selling items is okay if you have stuff to spare. You can rebuy it when you are working again. BEWARE of SCAM ARTISTS and have faith in yourself. I am in Eugene, OREGON and it's hardluck capitol of the US.

Stressed

By me2silly4u2no - on Aug 31, 2010
Posted in me2silly4u2no

The place I went to work for has gone out of business. Again I'm running around looking for a job. I got so frustrated because everytime I would pick up the jobs section of the news paper I would see, RN needed, LPN needed, MT needed, and all kinds of things for health care so I ran to the University and said I want to become a nurse. I enrolled and started classes 2 weeks ago, but the student loans I received wasn't enough to cover the cost of my books at all. I had to borrow it from my grandmother which I so dislike doing because she's family, but still in the meantime I'm unable to find a part time job.

I will graduate in two years as long as I study hard and keep my grades up. I shouldn't have got a degree in ART before, but I still love it. I am frustrated. I mean really? McDonalds is full? I have put up fliers saying I'll clean people's houses, run errands for them, go to the grocery store to pick up their food, anything, but nothing so far. Been to the flea markets to sell my things, first day earned $7. The second day was $13. So for 2 days work, I earned $20 which is better than nothing, but it went quickly for toothpaste, toilet paper, soap, and shampoo, and the rest went in my tank for gas.

Maybe I will sound like a baby right now, but really I just feel like crying. I feel as if everything is falling apart. My oldest daughter is a senior in high school, she needs money for spanish club, band, and her senior pictures. My youngest daughter so far only needs the necessities; thank goodness. I have to pay the rent, medical bills, car insurance, utilities, and gas to go back and forth to school. I know that eventually everything will get better, but I'm massively stressed. I get headaches, my neck stiffens as if I've pulled a muscle, I can't eat as I use to as it just comes back up, and sleep is something I miss.

Seriously?! McDonalds anad Burger King and Wendy's and Arby's and Hardee's, etc... are full??? That jus blows my mind. I would be perfectly happy with just part time. I'm in school anyway, but I can work night shifts full time.

Instead of being in art exhibitions, maybe I should try to sell all my work on ebay. It beats waiting around for a year when my area has 1 and I sell 2 or 3 pieces that bring in around $1000 to $1500. Would be alot if I could do that every month instead of once a year.

Any suggestions out there? I'm open for ideas.

re-introducin' myself

By manic mamma - on Feb 9, 2010

Greetings and thankyou for existing. In some time between 03 and '04,I finally had what amounts to a nervous breakdown that had been riding my back for a very long time. My subsequent behavior and decisions coming from desperation and learned survivor behavior snowballed into my 27 month incarceration. Within barely 2 yrs,I was barraged with a hasty marriage, losing a baby, giving birth to my 2nd son-right after another woman had just given birth to a daughter by my then husband,my mother( and soulmate)doing her first run at an overdose after being sober for more 12yrs,and then her 2nd and final overdose. This pretty much took me to my knees. Prison was my intervention that I can say surely saved my life. I only wish there was something like your group to help me finish the recovery and renewal process that had began with my incarceration. Frankly,I am still a mess and could use some help. It is my sincere desire to help others once I can get myself together. If you could provide any resources that I could use from here or direction of any kind I would be grateful. As with most, there is so much more than this letter that go into the kind of assistance I could use. At this point, I desperately need money towards a car to get to my drs appts and disability. Affairsm the main thing that a car would enable me to do is see my sons. I have noone left alive for family except some extremely abusive people I had to distance myself from.I am aware that you all must be very busy. Again, thank you for your time. Sincrely, Manic Mamma

Well hello and I hope everyone is doing good. I am glad to to say that I have found a place to live and am now on disabilty. I have moved in with a old friend and have been helping her with her 11 year old daughter. It was hard at first she and I have a history together and we found a common place where we can be roommates. we split the bills and have little left over but we have a nice place to live.

Thank you all for your prayers and coments. Our God is a great God. I now have a truck and a home. And almost a family of sorts. At least for now I have another child to help raise. who knows what he has in store for me next. I am painting and as soon as the new peice is done i will post it here and at myspace where one of my blogs is at. Also at goggle where there is another blog. loke for me also at face book.

God bless everyone and thanks again. It is truly a day that the Lord has made.

It is commission so you can expect to start low but as long as you can do any kind of literature that is readable you can gain up your revenue, And you don't have to be pros just think of a story you want to tell or find a funny picture or make a poem or a video of anything it does not have to magnificent as long as it is your work and not a copyright material, It must be your original work so whoever is interested click on the link below and sign up and start getting paid. http://www.triond.com/

The Photographers Dream

By Carolyn9 - on Oct 23, 2008
Posted in Carolyn9

I'm a photographer by trade, I like to think that I can see the beauty in nearly anything. I take photos of what I like, what I think is beautiful, or interesting. Its become by passion and quite honestly a bit of an obession as well. Prior to my photography work, I was and in essense still am a stay at home for the past 11 years. I felt the need to do something on my own. Something just for me. I realize this sounds selfish but in my mind family always comes first and I always share everything with them. But this project was going to be just mine. My baby if you will. It began with nature photography several years ago but that lacked something, a connection with other people.

Over the past year I decided to branch out and start photographing people other than just my family. I love what I do. Ive enjoyed learning, trying new things along the way, as well as getting to know that people that have crossed my path along the way. My hope is to one day have my own studio. I am currently looking into small business grants to assist me with this. Unfortunately, most of what I have found on the web are too specific on their requirements, they dont apply to me or even worse the links are of no help at all.

I won't lie to you and tell you that I'm poor. I live in a modest home and we live comfortably. We have food on the table each night, no sickness in the family and I have the financial means to pay my bills on time. We are in debt due to my using credit cards to acquire the equipment I needed to get started. I just need a little help to get to the next step. All I need is a studio and some better lighting equipment.

My primary interests for the studio in this would fall under 3 categories:

1. Boudior Photography- I love helping other women feel good about themselves. I worked with an aspiring model that isnt exactly what main stream modeling would be looking for. We took some pin up and lingerie style photos to add to her portfolio and mine. I was on the phone with her as she reviewed the images on line. She exclaimed "You made me beautiful!". I did nothing, she was already beautiful, she just didnt see herself the way that I did. Id like to show women of all shapes, sizes, colors, and with flaws how beautiful they are. Not only does this help with self image but its boosts self confidence as well.

2. Artistic Nudes- In this day and age, some frown upon these. Again this is to show how lovely the human body can truly be and shouldnt be ashamed of.

3. General Artistic- I'm not sure how else to describe this other than that. I have a plethora of ideas that would be listed under this category, its way too long to add it all here. Id like to project images that make you think and re-evaluate the way life is seen.

If anyone can suggest anything that would help me to reach my aspirations, I would appreciate it. I feel that this is something I was meant to do. This is my way of trying to change the world for the better.

Hi, am a passionate artist that wants to follow my dreams and do what I love most and that is to create beautiful art pieces. But unfortunately, I am so much in dept that I am unable to keep up with my bills as well as buy art supplies. Everytime I saved up enough to buy paint that I need it must go towards my bills.  This is really depressing because not only can I make enough to support myself, I can't even do what I love most. I graduated with an arts degree in studio arts, but is unable to pursue my dream due to my school bills and my living expenses. I had to subject my self to working at a job that does not pay enough. Please help, anything will work.

An artist in need of help.

By Dirige - on Mar 23, 2007

I have been hunting for a job in Beloit Wisconsin and the surrounding area since November last year.. I got a seasonal job with UPS in December, but it was very short and they will not hire anyone for an inside job due to all possitions being filled by Union workers.
I have filled out applications for every business I could find within a 25+ mile radius and still have not had a single job offer.
My roommate who told me they wanted to help me has given me a place to stay, but they have had a change of heart and said I must be out by May 1st.. I have no money and nowhere to go and I don't know what to do.
A friend of a friend told me they could hook me up with a job if I could make it to Canada, but the requirements to become a Canadian citizen are fairly expensive, i.e. six months living expenses are required on a travel visa.

If anyone can offer me any kind of job, I don't care what it is or how much it pays or how many hours I have to work, I will do anything.
Or if you are willing to help me at all, all I can offer in return is artwork.. I have a small online shop with digital paintings I have done, if you just buy even one of them it will be a great help.

http://stores.lulu.com/Dirige  is my art shop.

If you have any other offers of ways to help me or to offer me a job please email me at xellos@priest.com

There are many student resources on AidPage and just as a suggestion for a starting point, I have posted a link for you (see the next section). Hi, Browsing AidPages can give you ideas about grants and loans available for women-enterpreneurs. Of course, you can search for any business or small business grants, not only for women-enterpreneurs. In the next section I have posted a link to a site about grants for women's business in California. Hope this helps.

Are there GRANTS for ARTISTS that want to start a small business???

By A mom's wish - on Jul 13, 2005... modified on Jul 13, 2005
Posted in A mom's wish

I've heard that there is money available, through grant programs that can help start a business.  I've also heard that there may be grants available especially for women, entreprenurs and maybe for artists.  I want to start my own decorative painting business, and really have very little means of doing so currently.  I want to try and become independent as my marriage is on the rocks.  I'm not looking for a free ride, or anything that is not honest.  I just wanted to inquire about the grant programs that I've heard so much about.  If I can get this going, I would eventually like to start up a childrens art studio with monthly art auctions in our community.  I live in Benicia, CA which would truly appreciate such a creative place.  We are a very art oriented town, and I think it would fit in perfectly.

I think the amount I would require is around $5,000.00 - $10,000.00.  I know a formal business plan would be necessary to come up with a better estimate, whick is what I am working on, now.
